The festivities will kick off with the Stawell Show at Laidlaw Park.
Activitieswill include a ute, car and motorbike competition, ferret racing, horse events and an animal nursery.
The sheaf tossing competition is on again and will include anovice section for newcomers.
The tiny tot and show girl competition starts at 1.30pm.
Boys aged from four to six and girls aged from four to 15 can enter.
A new competition this year can be found at the fleeces stand.
The competition is open to the public and requires participants to estimate the micron and weight of the displayed fleece.
Ararat will host its annual show on Sunday.
The festivities will start with the Golden Gateway Festival paradewhich will start at the Edith Cavell Reserve on the corner of Barkly and Viewpoint Street.
The theme of the parade this year is ‘Let’s Celebrate’.
The procession will end at the showground on the corner of Blake and Thomas Street.
The show will feature horse events, displays of sheep andfat lambs, poultry, woodwork and pavilion features.
