Cody Davies and Tony Piccolo launching the new broadcasting site.Taking its cue from the Back to the Future films, Gawler Broadcasting Association held its official launch and AGM on October 21, 2015 – the same date Marty McFly and Doc Brown visited from the 1980s.
It’s been two years in the making since a group of Gawler enthusiasts banded together with a dream of a community radio station for the town, with Wednesday night’s launch the first step in making it a reality.
Chairman of the Board, Cody Davies welcomed members to the AGM, and gave a short history of the group’s activities in the past two years, with the financial report presented and elections held.
On the completion of the AGM, Gawler Community Radio supporter and local MP Tony Piccolo pressed the button to officially launch the new on-line site, which has podcasts covering a variety of programs.
Currently there are seven “shows” for community members to chose from, covering a variety of tastes.
For lovers of the arts, “The Gawler Music Scene” should prove popular, while the “Rick and Rob Sports Show” will look to cover everything from interviews with sports-people, opinions and history.
There is “Talk Sci-Fi”, “House Hunt” “Business Development Chat” and “Marilyn Interviews”, as well as “Dig It”, which is an unusual series of gardening tips for dogs.
