BELL ringers from St Peter’s Cathedral are celebrating the 19th anniversary of their beloved bells next weekend.
To celebrate, the city’s bell ringers will be making a little bit of noise – with the eight bells in the cathedral tower, of course.
Ringingmaster Carol Quin said this year’s festival will include expert ringers from Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra.
“In what has become an annual event, there will be special ringing on Friday, October 30 between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, Saturday, October 31 between 10am and 12pm, and again between 2pm and 4pm,” Ms Quin said.
“It is planned that a special “quarter peal” will be rung on Sunday, November 1 between 11am and twelve noon.
Mrs Quinn said that this week’s normal Thursday night practice would be transferred to Friday night to take advantage of the early arrival of the visiting ringers.
