Tricolours in trouble: The Roosters may not be in Group 16 unless a crisis meeting gets more interest than the club’s two attempts to run an AGM.Two of Group 16 Rugby League’sbiggest and longest standing clubs are in danger of bowing out.
The Bega Roosters and Eden Tigers, who have both been consistent entrants since 1946 are struggling to form committees.
A crisis meeting of the Roosters will be held next Thursday at the Grand Hotel from 7pm.
The meeting will be the final attempt to form a committee before a forced withdrawal from the competition, while the Eden Tigers will also hold a crisis meeting on November 9.
The news emerged after both clubs ran repeated general meetings to vote on an incoming committee, but failed to attract enough numbers.
Current president of the Bega Roosters Garry Arkin said the state of affairs was quite alarming with the Roosters now going to a last-ditch crisis meeting.
“I think the lack of volunteers across a number of organisations is a growing concern,” Arkin said.
