The speed camera is located along the eastern side of the Princes Highway, near the corner of Exeter Avenue, and points in the direction of northbound traffic.

Just south of the location, there are lights being installed at Station Street to handleexpected increased traffic flow from a nearby development.

Despite the lights appearing to be in the camera’s line of sight,Acting Executive Director Centre for Road Safety Bernard Carlon said there were no plans to remove it.

“The operation of the fixedspeedcameralocated on the Princes Highway, North Wollongong will not be affected by the installation of traffic lights at Station Street,” Mr Carlon said.

He said data showed the camera had been effective in reducing crashes and injuries.

“Thisspeedcameracommenced operating in June 2000 and when comparing the most recent five-year analysis period to the crash data prior to installation there has been a 33 per cent reduction in crashes and a 46 per cent reduction in the number of casualties at this location,” he said.
